Mara West Bucket List – The Must Do Activities at Masai Mara

Mara West combines luxury accommodations with the breathtaking adventures of an unforgettable African safari. There are a lot of activities at Masai Mara that you can choose to do, but we have the MUST do activities that we recommend to everyone.

 1. Dine With Nature

Dine With NatureYou cannot leave Mara West Camp without having a Sunrise breakfast or bush dinner outside your porch or at the lookout overlooking the vast plains of the Transmara Triangle below. For those who are more adventurous you’ll love our Bush meals inside the Masai Mara Game Reserve as you watch the animals in their natural habitat.

2.  See How the Sun Rises and Sets in Masai Mara

See How the Sun Rises and Sets in the MaraThe location of Mara West Camp is on an escarpment with stunning views. You can watch the beautiful African sun rise and set right outside your room!

3. Go on a Safari

Go on a SafariMara West Camp is just 3 kms. from the Oloololo Park Gate making it very easy to enter the Masai Mara National Game Reserve. There’s absolutely no way you can visit us and not go on a Safari to view some of the world’s most impressive wildlife. You can use one of our 4×4 vehicles with specially outfitted open hatches for prime game viewing and photography.

4. Watch the Wildlife Up Close 

Watch the Animals Up CloseThe best thing about being in a camp near the Masai Mara Game Reserve such as Mara West, is that you get to take walking tours accompanied by a nature walk guide and enjoy Kenya’s best flora, birds and wildlife on foot.

5. Spot the Evasive Leopard 

leopard 2Before you leave Mara West Camp you’ll have to make sure you spot the leopard. Leopards are among the hardest animals to find on earth, but at the Masai Mara Game Reserve there is a big herd of them and if you look just closely enough you might spot one or two. Good luck     🙂

7. Get Married at Masai Mara

Get Married in Masai MaraLooking for an adventure of a lifetime? You must have your wedding at Mara West Camp. You can have your wedding ceremony under perfectly arching trees with the whole of The Mara as the backdrop. This is simply breathtaking! The bride will then get honored by local Masai women by placing a beautifully colorful traditional wedding necklace on her.

8. Spend Your Honeymoon at Maasai Mara

Worry not, there’s still one last item to tick off from our bucket list; spend your honeymoon at our luxurious honeymoon suite! The suite has a four poster king bed, a unique outdoor shower on the front verandah, and an adjacent private sun tanning deck. The suite’s location on the escarpment is especially private and most picturesque. The couple also gets a bottle of sparkling wine each night in the room and either a private dinner or breakfast each night/morning on the deck.
